Chelsea McKone

Chelsea began dancing at the age of three. She studied ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, hip hop, and musical theatre. She grew up performing and dancing competitively in Toledo, Ohio. Chelsea discovered her love of teaching dance to young students in high school. From 2001-2004 she attended Arizona State University and studied dance along with kinesiology. After suffering from a serious back injury she discovered Pilates and went through an extensive 600 hour training program with Power Pilates and worked as an independent Pilates contractor from 2004-2007 in Scottsdale, Arizona. During that time, she was also teaching dance at Destiny Dance International owned by Sheryl Cooper. In 2004, she had the fun experience of performing as a dancing duck in the DVD “Barney’s Colorful World”.

In 2007, a job transfer for her husband led her to West Dundee. She has taught dance in various suburbs since then and has been sharing her love of dance at Dixon Dance Academy since 2008. Within that time she also held the position of Recreation Supervisor at the West Chicago Park District from 2008-2012. She developed and oversaw the dance and theatre programs as well as before/after school, summer camp, preschool, and various youth programming.

Chelsea is passionate in her love of dance and youth. She strives to instill an appreciation of the art form of dance in each of her students and aims to have the always leaving with a smile. Chelsea currently resides in West Dundee with her husband and three little dancing daughters.
