Heather Goldman

Heather has been involved in the Chicagoland dance community for over 30 years. For the past 20 years, however, her passion has been instructing and shaping developing dancers. She has experience in teaching all ages Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acrobatics, and Technique. She has been on faculty at several area dance studios and has found happy homes here, at Dixon Dance Academy, and at the Barrington Park District for the last 12 years. Heather has worked with Barrington High School Orchesis, Fremd High School Orchesis, Barrington Color Guard, and St. Charles North Pom Squad. She has taught Master classes at Dance Motions, Applause Nationals, Barrington High School, Bartlett High School, Youth Dance Chicago Nationals, and Dancewerks National Werkshop. With her extensive teaching background, Heather enjoys bringing her love and enthusiasm of the beautiful art of dance to all her classes.

She has studied with some of the finest teachers and choreographers in the Chicagoland area in a variety of genres: Joel Hall, Nana Shineflug, Alberto Arias, Bruce Stegman, Anida Sedala, Rosemary Doolas, Marcus Alford, and Ellen Werksman-Smith. She danced on scholarship with the Cecchetti Council of America and several other workshops around the country. Heather also brings a strong performance history to her students. She is a former company member of Midwest Dance Collective. She has been involved in such prestigious shows as Dance Chicago, Chicago 's Next Dance Fest, Young Artist's Showcase, The Chicago Dance Legacy Project, special guest appearances with Chicago Dance Medium and repeated self-produced concerts. She spent years as MDC’s Rehearsal Mistress and then, Assistant Director. Now she is a Resident Choreographer for MDC under the direction of Ellen Werksman-Smith. She has choreographed nine years of Elgin Summer Theater’s Musical Productions and five years of Bartlett High School’s Musical Productions, and two years of Dance Motions Company Performances. Heather has choreographed for Elgin Community College, u-46’s All District Summer Musical, and Children’s Theater of Elgin. Heather’s choreography has been featured and awarded highly at various regional and national competitions. She spends her time happily living in Elgin with her husband Dave, son Ben, and twin babies Daniel and Juliet. Heather is delighted to broaden her experience with the talented staff and enthusiastic students at Dixon Dance Academy.
