Katie Harmon

Katie Harmon is an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago, Illinois. She is currently an Apprentice Artist with Aerial Dance Chicago and a member of Four Dimensions Arts. Originally from small town Rutherfordton, NC, her early dance training began in various studios across Western NC including Gastonia and Asheville. Studying under professors like Kim Jones, E.E. Balcos, and Rachel Tucker, Harmon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Performance, Choreography, and Theory at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has enjoyed the opportunity to perform in many UNCC Department of Dance concerts, the Charlotte Dance Festival, and the inaugural Wake Forest Dance Festival. She has worked under choreographers such as George Faison, Greg Dolbashian, Marcus White, Claudia Lavista, and Braeden Barnes. Her performance based passions include exploring movement through improvisation, studying contemporary and modern techniques, and aerial arts. Harmon has taught ballet, contemporary, jazz, modern, and improvisation at several studios in the US. She also works with students privately for technique and competition pieces. Her work involves collaboration and creation across art forms. She focuses on using improvisation, experimentation, and digital editing skills to build multimedia films, performances, and experiences.
